How do I book a class at Paint Monkey?

Go to the tab “Calendar of Classes” on our website.  Choose the location where you’d like to paint (Lawrenceville , McCandless or The Waterfront) and look at the calendar of classes we have posted for that month.  You can choose a class based on the painting you’d like to do, or a time that works for you and your friends.  This will take you to our Rezclick reservation system.  Click on the class you’d like to do and follow the prompts, filling up your cart and going to the checkout.  It’s pretty user friendly.

 

What is the cost of a class?

Depends.   It’s $35 per person (+tax) for a 2-hour class.  It’s $45 per person  (+tax) for a 3-hour class.  Paint Your Pet classes are $60 per person (+tax).  We have walk-in options at both The Waterfront and McCandless – those classes are $25+tax and you’ll have a variety of paintings to choose from to paint. This is more like an open studio, where there’s an artist to help you, but there’s no instruction like a class.

 

Do you really pre-sketch your canvases?

Yes!  We found out that it reduces the anxiety that many people have coming into the studio.  It’s very rare that any artist free hands a painting.  Most do a light sketch on the canvas as a guide.  That’s what we do for you.  Giving you this little head start makes it easier for you to socialize and relax while you are here.  And isn’t that the whole idea?

 

What time should I arrive for class?

The doors will open 30 minutes prior to scheduled class time. We suggest that you arrive about 15-20 minutes before class begins to allow for “settling in” time (opening wine, using the rest room, mingling with friends).  If you are more than 45 minutes late, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to finish and will be given a “to go” kit.

 

Can we bring wine and food to the studio?

The answer is yes! We are BYOB. You can bring wine, beer and other libations. We always have a large tub of ice to keep things cold as well. We also have cups, corkscrews, napkins on hand.

Not only can you bring wine, etc, but you can bring snacks as well. We have seen it all from cheese and crackers, chips and salsa, sushi, pizza and other take out foods.

 

What should I wear?

We’re not painting a house, we are creating a masterpiece! Wear something that you are comfortable in (not your Sunday best). We supply aprons for protection against water-based acrylic paint that we use. These paints become water-resistant when they dry.

Can I share a canvas with someone?  

No.  Our policy is one painter per canvas.

May I bring a non-painting guest to class to watch me while I paint?

No, sorry. This is a “hands-on” activity and our classes are usually at capacity so there is not room for spectators along with painting customers.

 

Do we all have to paint the same thing?

Usually.  Most of our classes are set up for everyone to paint the same picture. We do this for your benefit, so we can guide you through the process. This doesn’t mean you have to all do it the same way. We encourage you to make it your own.  Everyone begins with the same pre-sketched canvas and they all turn out differently.  It’s not paint by numbers – we don’t tell you what colors to use!  You can embellish your painting any way you’d like.

Every once in a while we offer more than one painting in a session (i.e. Holiday Grab Bag).  So when this happens, it’s another opportunity for you you to do your own thing.

If you sign up for a couples painting (which are clearly marked) you will be each be painting one half of the same painting. On a Family Fun Day you can choose from a few different paintings.

 

Do you do kids birthday parties?

Yes!  We do them for a flat rate of $300 and you can invite 12 guests.  Each guest over the 12 included in the package, there is an additional $20 charge.  Limit 18.  This rate is for kids 15 and under.  If adults would like to participate, our usual 2-hour rate of $35 applies.  We recommend ages 6 and older for painting.

 

How many guests do you have to have for a private party?

For a private party we must have a guarantee of 10 guests or a minimum of $350.  We can do private parties at all of our locations- call for availabilities. Gift certificates may not be used for private parties.  We can always accommodate groups into our regular classes.  Just let us know who’s in your group and we will have you seated together.  We will need 10 days notice if you have to cancel for some reason.  If you cancel and it is less than 10 days, you’ll be charged a cancellation fee of $350.

How does the waiting list work?
If a class is full you will see the “Join Waiting List” option. Click on this to add the class to your shopping cart and check out. You won’t be charged anything and you will now be on the waiting list. If a seat becomes available, you will be notified via email and have the option to register at that time. Being on a waiting list doesn’t automatically register you for a class, it just emails you if and when a seat opens up. Everyone on the waiting list gets the same notification at the same time, and has the same opportunity to register for the class. So you need to act fast to secure the open seat.

 

Can we bring small children to the evening classes?

Our policy is no children under 15 in the evening classes. And those 15-21 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

 

How did you come up with the name “Paint Monkey?”

Well, the idea is that you are copying a painting…so we thought “Monkey See, Monkey Do.” Add paint to that and you have yourself a Paint Monkey.

 

How can I cancel/change a class if I am within your cancellation policy?

1) Go to the RezClick page for the Lawrenceville or Cranberry studio, sign into your on-line account and click on “My Classes”

2) Find the class you are canceling and click “Change”

3) Click on the box in front of the registered name.

4) Click on the appropriated choice

When you finish, your account will show an account credit. Refunds are given only as class credit. For your next purchase, the shopping cart will NOT automatically apply the credit and deduct the cost of your purchase from your account credit before it charges your credit card. YOU MUST CLICK ON THE BUTTON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PAGE “APPLY ACCOUNT CREDIT”.

If you contact us to cancel prior  the 3 day cancellation period, you will be given a refund.  If you cancel less than 72 hours prior to class, you can receive a class credit which must be used within 30 days.

 

Is it safe to use my credit card on-line?

Online payment via credit card is secure, fast, easy and will guarantee that your registration is processed immediately.

We are using a certtiifcate : 128-bit SSL encryption.

 

What methods of payment do you accept ?

Our online system allows us to accept Visa, Master Card, American Express and Discover.

 

What is your bad weather policy?

If we are there and the class is still being held – and you can’t make it, because of bad weather – we will give you a class credit that will be good for 30 days only – No exceptions.  If we have to cancel the class – we will offer you a choice of a  full refund or a class credit.
